In 2015 electricity output reached 343 ktoe, 88.9% from fossil sources and 9% from solar and wind, while hydro contributed 31 ktoe via regional supply from the Manantali dam. Access to electricity was 56.5% in 2012, with 26.6% in rural areas and 87.8% in urban areas; renewable energy accounted for 51.4% of total final consumption, largely traditional biofuels. The sector is regulated by CRSE, with SENELEC holding transmission and distribution, and IPPs supplying about half of generation under a feed-in framework.
