It was developed through a nationally led portfolio formulation exercise based on document review and consultations with government entities, statutory bodies, non-governmental organizations, educators, the private sector, and regional institutions. The document outlines the country’s environmental context, institutional arrangements, and funding constraints, and defines priority interventions aligned with international environmental commitments. The strategy focuses on biodiversity conservation through the establishment and management of protected areas, climate change mitigation through renewable energy and energy efficiency, and land degradation management mainly via regional initiatives.
