NO This report provides an in-depth examination of a project addressing the complex interactions between livestock, wildlife, and environmental management in Sub-Saharan African drylands. Conducted in pilot areas of Kenya and Burkina Faso, it highlights critical challenges such as land degradation, escalating human-wildlife-livestock conflicts, and diminishing biodiversity. The project employed a participatory approach, engaging local communities, NGOs, and governmental bodies to integrate sustainable land management practices and enhance biodiversity conservation. Significant outcomes include the rehabilitation of degraded rangelands, development of community-based natural resource management plans, and capacity building through targeted training in governance, conflict resolution, and enterprise development. The initiatives resulted in tangible socio-economic improvements such as reduced conflicts, alternative livelihoods, and increased income from ecotourism and sustainable grazing fees while fostering local ownership and institutional strengthening.
