NO Despite multiple nitrogen-relevant UN agencies and conventions having become operational since 1972, global nitrogen waste has steadily increased over that period. Different aspects of the nitrogen cycle fall within the remit of different parts of the UN system. Whilst in theory this allows for each aspect of the nitrogen cycle to be considered and addressed by the body that is best placed to tackle any pollution and waste that may arise from its use, there are still gaps and a lack of coherence in addressing the multiple negative impacts such pollution and waste cause for people and for the planet.
