NO A new partnership has been developed that links the coastand oceans activities of the United Nations EnvironmentProgramme (UNEP) and the US National Oceanographic andAtmospheric Administration (NOAA). The joint initiativeincorporates NOAA’s Large Marine Ecosystem (LME)assessment and management approach, using LMEs asoperational/management units for translating the RegionalSeas Programme into concrete actions. This will assistcountries in Africa, Asia, Latin America & the Caribbean, andEastern Europe to restore and sustain resources, coastalenvironments and linked watersheds.
