It compiles data from a comprehensive database of organisations, projects and transactions, using verified and estimated investment figures. The scope covers financing stages from research and development to asset finance, public markets and acquisitions. Findings show total investment of 244 billion dollars in 2012, a decline from the previous year, alongside a continued shift towards developing economies. The report highlights variations across regions, technologies and financing types, noting reduced investment alongside increased installed capacity due to falling technology costs.
