To achieve this, information was gathered from 11 markets that have specific regulatory frameworks for this activity and have demonstrated successful development since their implementation. The markets analyzed are: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay. The development of distributed energy resources presents an opportunity for countries in the region to achieve their greenhouse gas emission reduction targets and fulfill their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The deployment of these new technologies also promotes economic growth through job creation and investment attraction, while strengthening and increasing the flexibility of energy systems.
