To evaluate the POPs monitoring capabilities and needs of countries in these regions, the analysis draws on National Implementation Plans (NIPs) and National Reports submitted under the Stockholm Convention, Regional Reports, the 2002 Regional Assessments, online surveys, and data from the GMP Data Warehouse. Evidence from national studies, participation in various POPs monitoring programs, and declared laboratory capacities were cross-referenced with the UNEP laboratory databank and country responses to question 30.2 of the Reporting Dashboard (regarding research, development, and monitoring activities). A dedicated questionnaire was distributed in all regions, but only responses from Latin America and the Caribbean were received. The findings reflect specific gaps, strengths, and challenges in national POPs monitoring. DS UN Environment Document Repository RD Sep 18, 2026
