NO This foresight brief explores the alarming global decline in insect populations and the far-reaching ecological and economic implications. Insects provide important services such as pollination, pest control, nutrient cycling and soil conservation that support food security and biodiversity. However, habitat loss, pesticide use, agricultural intensification, light pollution and climate change are leading to a rapid decline. Based on global evidence, the report emphasises the urgent need for innovative solutions that go beyond conventional conservation approaches. Case studies such as ecological intensification, black bee conservatories and butterfly exhibits are presented to illustrate viable solutions. The report also emphasises the importance of insect monitoring, taxonomic expertise, ecological networks and public awareness.
