It provides an overview of the right to free, prior and informed consent (FPIC), associated duties, and good practices in the application of FPIC across Asia Pacific. This Summary for Decision-makers recognises that environmental human rights defenders (EHRDs) include all “individuals and groups who, in their personal or professional capacity and in a peaceful manner, strive to protect and promote human rights relating to the environment, including water, air, land, flora and fauna”.
