NO This document outlines the concept note for the theme of the fourth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly, prepared for the second joint retreat of the Assembly and Committee of Permanent Representatives bureaux in Tallinn (6–7 September 2018). It frames the theme as “Innovative solutions for environmental challenges and sustainable consumption and production,” grounded in Rio+20 and the integrated nature of the Sustainable Development Goals. It defines “innovative solutions” broadly across policy, finance, partnerships, processes, and data, and situates sustainable consumption and production as a full life-cycle approach. It proposes three focus areas and links them to development of an implementation plan to tackle pollution.
