It describes efforts led by the National Environmental Protection Agency with technical support from the United Nations Environment Programme to build national capacity in environmental assessment and reporting. The workshop introduced principles of integrated environmental assessment, analytical frameworks, indicators, policy analysis, and methods for assessing environmental trends and impacts. Participants from government agencies, universities, civil society, international organisations, and neighbouring Tajikistan contributed to discussions and group exercises that shaped the scope, structure, stakeholder roles, and production roadmap for a future national report, while identifying challenges related to data availability, coordination, and institutional capacity.
