NO The world's population reached 5.3 billion in 1990 and is expected to grow by another one billion to reach 6.3 billion by 2000. About 93 per cent of this population growth will be in the developing countries. Although there has been marked progress in improving health conditions throughout the world in the 1980s, enormous gaps remain between the rich and poor in developed and developing countries, and especially between the two groups of countries.
