RT null T1 Ecosystem-based Adaptation in Paraguay 2024-2029 A1 United Nations Environment Programme, YR 2025 FD 2025-08-18 LK https://wedocs.unep.org/handle/20.500.11822/49105 UL https://wedocs.unep.org/handle/20.500.11822/49105 NO Paraguay is a landlocked country in South America, encompassing diverse geographic features such as the Gran Chaco to the west and fertile plains in the east. The Chaco region is home to vulnerable communities, including indigenous populations that rely heavily on natural resources for their livelihoods. The goal of this project is to reduce the vulnerability of the population, particularly family farmers and indigenous communities, of the Chaco Region of Paraguay to the impacts of climate change on food security. The project adopts a multi-faceted approach to address the main barriers for adaptation, such as: i) improving information and knowledge for climate resilience; ii) implementing concrete cost-effective on-the-ground adaptation measures; and iii) strengthening the institutional capacities to adequately address climate change adaptation issues.
