NO This document outlines how expanding trade in environmentally sound technologies (ESTs) can advance development, resilience, and multiple Sustainable Development Goals, and argues that trade liberalization can help create and expand markets for these technologies while enabling participation in regional and global value chains. It situates the discussion in the East African Community, describing its market size, population, energy-access gaps, and Vision 2050 targets for universal modern energy access and a majority renewable energy mix. It reports that EAC countries import far more selected ESTs than they export, identifies trade and capacity constraints, and proposes policy, data, finance, and partnership steps, including a Kenya solar PV case.
