NO The Ministerial Meeting on Environment and Climate Change between Ministers ofEnvironment of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and the European Union (EU) was anopportunity for the exchange of views on areas for strengthened collaboration between thetwo regions.Ministers responsible for the environment and climate from LAC countries; the EUCommissioner for the Environment, Oceans and Fisheries; and Ministers from EU MemberStates discussed opportunities for cooperation on environment, biodiversity, climate action,and the green economy.The meeting was part of the “Road to 2023”, agreed at the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of theCommunity of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the EU, hosted on 27 October2022 by Argentina as Presidency pro-tempore of CELAC, where the Foreign Ministers agreedon a roadmap to upgrade the relationship between both regions.The outcomes of this meeting will be used as an input to the EU - CELAC Summit of Heads ofState & Government on 17 and 18 July 2023, in Brussels, Belgium.The meeting was co-chaired by Minister Franz Tattenbach of Costa Rica and CommissionerSinkevicius. Ministers and other senior representative from thirty-one (31) EU and LACcountries attended the meeting either physically or virtually.The discussion was organized around two sessions. The first one focused on the topics ofbiodiversity and the circular economy. The second session focused on climate change.
