NO East Asia is probably one of the most complicated areas of the world, with its great diversity of geography, races, societies, economies and environments. It contains the largest part of the world's population. Environmental problems have received inadequate attention. The marine environment is one area in which international co-operation is essential if pollution problems are to be solved, since marine pollutants recognize no national boundaries.
