NO In compliance with Governing Council decision 12/3 C of 28 May 1984, two closely interrelated topics are considered in the present report: environmental aspects of emerging agricultural technologies and population and the environment. The report reviews the present state of affairs in each of the two areas and studies possible future developments. It also outlines some recommendations designed to make it possible to achieve sustainable agricultural development to feed a growing world population, and to control rapid population growth to reduce increasing pressures on the world's limited natural resources.
