The workshop was supported under the ACP MEAs III Programme, aims to enhance the catalytic role of MEAs in accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This regional workshop for the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region focused on strengthening the capacity of UN Country Teams and national stakeholders to adequately reflect the environmental dimension in national sustainable development planning. The discussions and sessions were particularly centered on the implementation of key MEAs, including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions (BRS), and the broader global agenda on chemicals and waste management. The engagement aimed to support integrated approaches that mainstream environmental priorities across sectors and governance levels to support sustainable development in the SADC region.
