IMEO provides actionable data through advanced tools such as the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0), which sets global standards for transparency and metrological reporting, and the Methane Alert and Response System (MARS), which uses satellites and AI to detect over 1,200 major methane plumes. Despite robust data systems and more than 140 industry members, engagement remains low — only around 1% of MARS reports result in substantive action. The report also highlights overlooked opportunities for emissions reduction in the steel sector and emphasises the importance of integrating multiple data sources for effective policy.Full report is available at: https://wedocs.unep.org/handle/20.500.11822/46541 NO https://www.unep.org/resources/eye-methane-2024 DS UN Environment Document Repository RD Sep 20, 2026
