UNEP can point to the fact that under its auspices tour major global binding agreements - the 1985 Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, the 1987 Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, the 1989 Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of hazardous Wastes and their disposal, and, very recently, the 1992 Convention on Biological Diversity - have been developed and implemented. Under UNEP auspices, several regional legal agreements have been developed and implemented, namely several regional seas conventions and protocols as well as Regional Agreement on the Action Plan for the Environmentally Sound Management of the Common Zambczi River System.
