NO This document provides an overview of the UNEP Global Mercury Partnership’s activities and progress between July 2010 and June 2012, highlighting robust growth in official membership—from 70 to 111 partners—and detailing the allocation of approximately $10.5 million in UNEP-administered funding across strategic action areas. The report outlines achievements in reducing mercury use and emissions, including convening the Global Forum on artisanal and small-scale gold mining, advancing technical guidance, data tools, and field projects, supporting the phaseout of primary mercury mining in Kyrgyzstan, and promoting best practices in mercury-free products, coal combustion, chlor-alkali production, and waste management. It notes the introduction of a new focus on limiting mercury emissions from the cement industry, recognizes ongoing challenges in communication, evaluation, and funding, and recommends enhanced coordination, resource mobilization, and support for treaty negotiations to enable sustained global mercury reduction.
