The studies examined the environmental, social and economic implications of trade liberalization in rice production and trade. Over a two-year period, the United Nations Environment Programme worked with national institutions in China, Colombia, Indonesia, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Senegal and Viet Nam to conduct these assessments. The document brings together the results from these country-level studies to provide a consolidated understanding of how changes in trade policy and liberalization may affect the rice sector across different national contexts.
