NO This report examines the potential of ecosystem-based adaptation to strengthen society’s resilience to climate change while supporting biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation and sustainable development. It assesses the contribution of ecosystem-based adaptation to climate adaptation, reviews the current status and trends in its implementation, and identifies the barriers limiting its wider adoption in policy and practice. Drawing on in-depth analysis and discussions with experts from around the world, the report presents recommendations to accelerate the pace and scale of implementation. It proposes five broad categories of action to address existing barriers and better harness ecosystems to deliver adaptation benefits, contributing to a more climate-resilient and nature-positive future.
