It applies an integrated environmental assessment approach, examining cause–effect linkages between human and natural actions, environmental conditions, and human well-being, using a participatory process involving government, partners, and other stakeholders. The scope covers environment–development interactions and thematic assessments spanning the economy, population and settlements, land and agriculture, industry and mining, biodiversity, forests, water and wetlands, and energy. It identifies major pressures from population growth and land scarcity, including land degradation, erosion, deforestation, wetland degradation, biodiversity loss, and pollution. It also uses scenario planning to explore plausible futures to 2025. DS UN Environment Document Repository RD Sep 17, 2026
