NO This report is a terminal evaluation of a UNEP-GEF project implemented between November 2012 and November 2016. The project's overall development goal was to enable the development of a more robust and extensive market for locally grown and processed medicinal plants, while contemporaneously enabling and encouraging conservation of such plants and their ecosystems in the forests, including by participating in measures directed at addressing climate change and increasing local awareness of the value of forest services, where forests are conserved and well managed.  It also sought to promote the development of “access and benefit-sharing” as conceptualised in the Convention on Biological Diversity and its Nagoya Protocol, particularly in the context of the ancient traditional knowledge applicable to medicinal plants. The project was approved to receive a GEF grant of US $2,047,000.00, and a commitment of in-kind co-financing valued at US $2,500,000.00.
