NO Solid waste management continues to be a huge challenge in Indonesia. In 2017, the country’s waste generation reached 65.8 million (metric) tonnes (Mt), and it is estimated to grow at a significant rate for the foreseeable future. In addition, the rate of increase of solid waste management infrastructure cannot keep up with the waste generation. As a result, a huge amount of unhandled waste is polluting Indonesian land and rivers, as well as the ocean.
