The project's overall goal was to mainstream biodiversity using an integrated sustainable land management approach to ensure development, health, and environmental co-benefits in Sri Lanka. Specifically, it aimed to strengthen the restoration and sustainable management of selected Village Tank Cascade Systems (VTCS) to enhance ecosystem services, protect biodiversity, and improve local food security, well-being, and eco-health. The review sought to assess project performance (in terms of relevance, effectiveness and efficiency) and determine outcomes and impacts (actual and potential) stemming from the project, including their sustainability. The review has two primary purposes: (i) to provide evidence of results to meet accountability requirements, and (ii) to promote learning, feedback, and knowledge sharing through results and lessons learned among UNEP, the GEF and the relevant agencies of the project's participating country.
