Abstract
The Circular Cities Beyond Plastics Project Communications Strategy establishes a multi-phased framework to support the transition toward a circular economy for plastics across six target cities in Colombia, Jamaica, and Panama. Jointly backed by UNEP and the GEF, the strategy aims to curb marine plastic pollution by raising stakeholder awareness, promoting gender and social inclusion, and driving measurable behavioral change among nearly one million direct beneficiaries. It structures engagement around three core action lines—Institutional Visibility, Citizen Awareness, and Knowledge Transfer—tailoring multi-channel tactics for public officials, the private sector, NGOs, academia, and local citizens. By deploying targeted campaigns, policy briefs, and educational resources, alongside documenting key case studies and tracking defined KPIs, the strategy creates a scalable model to align regional policy, spark business innovation, and strengthen community waste-management practices.
