Abstract

This scientific reference handbook offers toxicological data on over 700 industrial chemicals following single exposure scenarios. Directed at toxicologists, hygienists, and professionals responsible for chemical risk assessment, it consolidates lethality and threshold data derived from extensive Soviet literature and institutional sources. The handbook details lethal and threshold doses or concentrations across multiple laboratory animal species—via inhalation, gastric, skin, and intravenous routes—highlighting species differences and extrapolation methods for human risk estimates. It also presents official hygienic standards such as Maximum Allowable Concentrations (MACs) and Tentative Safe Exposure Levels (TSELs) for the air of workplaces, ambient environments, and water bodies, organized for practical use. Additional information includes the main toxic actions, reference detection methods, classification by hazard class, and critical methodological keys, all systematically arranged in tabular format to facilitate rapid consultation and application in occupational and environmental health contexts.
