Sida’s Project on Spatial Planning in the Coastal Zone–Disaster Prevention and Sustainable Development: Thailand – Final Report

This report presents the outcomes of the Spatial Planning in the Coastal Zone – Disaster Prevention and Sustainable Development project implemented in Thailand between 2010 and 2013 under the Coordinating Body on the Seas of East Asia and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. It describes a project designed to reduce the impacts of natural disasters, climate change, and sea-level rise while promoting the sustainable development of coastal areas through spatial planning. The report outlines the national context, project methodology, consultations, capacity-building activities, training workshops, implementation achievements, expenditures, lessons learned, and recommendations. It also documents the development of national guidance materials, training programmes, and six draft provincial coastal spatial plans to strengthen coastal management and decision-making.
