Islam and Food Systems - Position Paper

This position paper presents an Islamic perspective on sustainable food systems by applying the principles of balance, justice and health to food production, transport and consumption. It examines environmental degradation, unhealthy diets, food waste and inequitable practices, while promoting wholesome and lawful food, sustainable agriculture, ethical resource management and responsible consumption. The paper concludes that food systems guided by these principles can support environmental sustainability, human wellbeing and social equity.
