Atlas of Africa Energy Resources

This document compiles and synthesizes continent-wide and country-level information on Africa’s energy resources, production, consumption, and access conditions, in response to persistent challenges of unaffordable, unreliable, and limited electricity availability. It assembles data from multiple energy databases, reports, and websites, and analyzes historical and current satellite imagery using GIS, supported by consultations with experts and regional power-pool stakeholders and an intensive review for scientific validity. Organized into five chapters, it presents renewable and non-renewable resource endowments, trends in supply and demand, and cross-cutting links with environment, health, gender, transport, and agriculture. It also describes regional market integration through power pools and provides profiles for all 54 African countries.
