International Strategy for Action in the Field of Environmental Education and Training for the 1990s

This document presents the International Strategy for Action in the Field of Environmental Education and Training for the 1990s, developed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and the United Nations Environment Programme following the 1987 Moscow Congress. It reviews international progress in environmental education since the 1977 Tbilisi Conference and identifies continuing environmental and educational challenges. The strategy establishes principles, objectives and actions to strengthen information exchange, research, curricula, teacher training, public awareness, technical and vocational education, university education, specialist training and international cooperation, supporting sustainable development and improved environmental management worldwide.
