Observed annually on 5 June and since its launch in 1973, World Environment Day has grown into one of the world’s most influential platforms for environmental outreach. Each year it mobilizes millions of people, thousands of organizations, and governments across the world to take action for a healthier, more sustainable planet. Hosting World Environment Day offers countries a unique opportunity to demonstrate leadership on environmental issues, showcase solutions and capture worldwide attention through high-level participation, global media coverage and UNEP’s advocacy campaign, which reaches millions each year.en
