Expansion of the National Business Registration System to new business entities

Abstract

This presentation outlines Viet Nam’s comprehensive economic reform launched in 1986 and implemented from 1989, shifting from a centrally planned economy dominated by state-owned enterprises to a socialist-oriented market economy focused on private sector development and business environment reform. It describes a project to expand the National Business Registration System to strengthen institutional capacity, improve inter-institutional coordination, and enable the provision of accurate and legally binding information on commercial entities. The document summarises legal revisions, system upgrades, technical development, training, surveys, and international missions undertaken between 2014 and 2016, alongside measures to improve transparency, reduce barriers for foreign invested enterprises, and support economic integration and sustainable growth.
